Yes, it is a Buckeye or Chestnut or Horse Chestnut, but it’s the shrub variety with an overall size of 8’-12’ tall with an 8’-15’ spread. It grows in our garden and we have planted it in the gardens of many, in full sun and shade. Both exposures suit this hardy plant just fine. It is disease resistant, needs very little water or fertilization, and is just darn happy to be here. We love its long, spiky, white bottlebrush late summer flowers. Come fall its foliage is such a brilliant yellow that you practically need sunglasses to look at it. Multi trunk, open, with large palmate leaves, it is a handsome addition as a specimen, or in a grove like the Buckeye jungle at Studio Pagliai. Come on over and have a look. They are sprouting babies that are easy to transplant. Bring your shovel!
